Business Card Sizes Reference

How to Create Business Cards in Figma

1

Set Up Your Frame

Create a new frame in Figma with the correct dimensions for your region. For a standard US business card, set the frame to 1050 × 600 pixels (3.5 × 2 inches at 300 DPI).

For a double-sided card, create two frames: one for the front and one for the back. Name them clearly (e.g., "Business Card - Front", "Business Card - Back").

2

Design with Print in Mind

Keep these print-specific rules in mind while designing:

  • Safe zone: Keep text and logos at least 5mm (15px) from all edges to prevent trimming
  • Font size: Minimum 7pt for body text, 8pt recommended. Anything smaller may be unreadable
  • Images: Use high-resolution images (300 DPI minimum). Avoid screenshots or web-quality images
  • Background: If your design has a colored or image background, extend it to the edges — Printery will add bleed automatically
3

Configure Print Settings with Printery

Open the Printery plugin and configure:

Bleed: 3mm

CMYK: ISO Coated v2

Converts your RGB colors to accurate CMYK for offset printing.

DPI: 300

Standard resolution for commercial printing. Ensures sharp text and images.

Crop Marks: On

Tells the printer exactly where to cut your card.

Business Card Design Tips for Print

Choose Paper Wisely

Standard is 350gsm coated. For premium cards, consider 400gsm+ uncoated or textured stock. If using uncoated paper, switch your ICC profile to PSO Uncoated in Printery — colors render differently on uncoated stock.

Watch Your Black

For large black areas (backgrounds), use rich black (C60 M40 Y40 K100) instead of pure black (K100). Pure black can appear washed out. For small text, use K100 only to keep edges sharp.

Spot Colors for Brand Accuracy

If your brand uses a specific Pantone color, use Printery's spot color feature (Pro) to ensure exact color matching. This is especially important for logos and brand elements.

Order a Test Print

Always order a small test batch before printing hundreds. Screen colors never match print exactly — a test print lets you adjust before committing to a full run.
